April Wrap Up

Hi everybody!

How are you doing? As I’m currently writing this, it is raining and gloomy but I am inside warm watching the remake of Aladdin which feels nice and cozy for my Thursday off.

My TBR

It is laughable how I make TBRs determined to read the books but then I never stick to them…

I read Hold Back the Tide and started both Crescent City and The Antidote but wasn’t feeling either so I decided to put them down for the meanwhile to read others I would enjoy more. I was really excited to get to Queen of Coin and Whispers, however the release date was pushed back so I sadly couldn’t get to it.

The Stats

My reading wasn’t as great as I hoped but if it wasn’t for the readathons I joined it could’ve been a lot worse (I have weird expectations I know).

I read 12 books this month, with most of them being owned copies, which may be the side effect of being in lockdown.

So:

  • I read 2906 pages
  • 10 were books I owned
  • 2 were ones that were free to read online

Favourite Book of the Month

If you’ve been following my Instagram, then I have spoken about Hold Back the Tide a lot and I mean a lot!

Everyone knows what happened to Alva’s mother, all those years ago. But when dark forces begin to stir in Ormscaula, Alva has to face a very different future – and question everything she thought she knew about her past.

Hold Back the Tide is utterly atmospheric and such a creepy, hooking novel that does well to make you fear what happens in the books and feel trapped until you finish! I really recommend it and if you want to make the meal seen in the book, then I have a blog post here.

Favourite Photos of the Month

April was kind of a dud month in terms of photography but I did enjoy doing a book covers as outfits trend with my vintage 80’s dress and making every photo have warm tones!

Books Purchased

I was doing so well not buying anything during April and saving money and then I bought a Truthwitch box set and it went downhill from there…

I did get most of the books cheaper than their retail price due to buying second hand or them dropping in price but I had two pre-orders which were Bone Criers Moon and Chosen Ones, which I will try to read soonish (Haven’t heard that one before…)
